Posted: 21-02-2009 The Resale Royalty Right for Visual Artists Bill 2008 (the Bill) is intended to give effect to the Australian Government’s election policy commitment to introduce a resale royalty right for visual artists. A resale royalty, also called a droit de suite, entitles an artist to receive a royalty payment from subsequent sales of his or her artwork. There are similar schemes in other countries, including the United Kingdom and all other members of the European Union.
